What makes this trek special is the variety packed into a relatively short expedition. One day you are walking through forests of oak and rhododendron, the next you are camping beneath towering Himalayan peaks, and soon after you are climbing through snow and rocky terrain towards a dramatic summit ridge.
The trek offers magnificent views of some of the most celebrated peaks in the region, including Nanda Devi, Dronagiri, Hathi Parvat, Ghori Parvat, Kamet and the surrounding Himalayan ranges. - Accommodation: Hotel
- Meals: Dinner
Your Pangarchulla Peak adventure begins in Joshimath, one of the most important gateways to the Garhwal Himalaya. Located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, Joshimath serves as the starting point for several iconic Himalayan journeys and provides the perfect place to prepare before heading into the mountains.
Arrive at your hotel and take time to settle in. Since participants may be arriving from different cities and at different times, the day is kept relatively relaxed.
In the evening, meet your trek leader and fellow team members for a detailed expedition briefing. The team will discuss the complete route, weather conditions, expected terrain, safety procedures and the challenges of the Pangarchulla summit.
A thorough gear check will also be conducted to ensure that everyone is carrying the required clothing and equipment. Particular attention will be given to summit-day gear, including warm layers, gloves, headlamps, sunglasses, trekking poles and appropriate footwear.
The trek leader will also explain the importance of acclimatization, hydration and maintaining a steady pace during the coming days.
Spend the night in Joshimath and get adequate rest before the journey into the mountains begins.

After an early breakfast, leave Joshimath and drive towards Tugasi Village, the starting point of the Pangarchulla Peak Trek.
The short mountain drive takes you deeper into the Nanda Devi region. As the road climbs through the villages, the first glimpses of the surrounding Himalayan mountains begin to appear.
On reaching Tugasi, complete the final preparations before starting the trek.
The trail begins with a gradual climb through the village and soon enters the mountain landscape. You will walk through traditional Himalayan surroundings, crossing small sections of farmland and following an ascending trail towards Gulling Top.
The trek is relatively short, allowing your body to gradually adjust to the increasing altitude.
As you gain height, the views become wider and the lower valleys begin to disappear beneath you. The landscape changes from village surroundings to forests and open mountain slopes.
Reach Gulling Top by afternoon and settle into camp.
This beautiful campsite offers an excellent introduction to the Himalayan wilderness. Depending on weather conditions, you may enjoy views of prominent Garhwal peaks from the surrounding clearings.
After lunch, take some time to rest. A short acclimatization walk may be conducted in the evening.
Enjoy your first night under the Himalayan sky.
- Overnight: Tents at Gulling Top

- Trek Distance: 5–6 km
- Trek Duration: 4–5 hours
- Accommodation: Tents

Wake up to your first full morning in the mountains and enjoy breakfast before beginning the trek towards Khullara.
Today, the trail takes you higher into the alpine environment. The route passes through beautiful forests and open sections, with a mixture of ascents and gradually changing terrain.
The forests in this region are known for their rich Himalayan vegetation. Depending on the season, you may pass through sections of oak and rhododendron forest, while higher sections open up towards meadows and more exposed mountain terrain.
As you climb higher, the tree cover gradually begins to thin and the views become increasingly dramatic.
The surrounding mountains start revealing themselves more clearly. On a clear day, the trek offers spectacular views of the major peaks and ranges of Garhwal.
The final approach towards Khullara opens into one of the most beautiful high-altitude camping areas on the route.
Khullara is surrounded by vast mountain landscapes and serves as the main high camp for both the Kuari Pass acclimatization hike and the Pangarchulla summit attempt.
Reach camp, have lunch and spend the rest of the afternoon resting.
Hydration is particularly important from this point onwards as the altitude increases.
Your trek leader will monitor the group and may conduct a basic health check.
- Overnight: Tents at Khullara
Day 4: Khullara to Kuari Pass via Khullara Top | Return to Khullara
- Khullara Altitude: 3,350 m / 11,000 ft

- Trek Distance: Approx. 3–4 km each way
- Total Duration: 5–6 hours
- Accommodation: Tents at Khullara
- Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Today is an important acclimatization day and one of the major highlights of the expedition.
After breakfast, begin the climb from Khullara towards Khullara Top and Kuari Pass.
The trail gradually gains altitude and moves above the main forest zone. The landscape becomes more open, giving way to expansive mountain slopes and wide Himalayan views.
As you climb, the scale of the surrounding mountains becomes increasingly impressive.
Kuari Pass, often considered one of the most scenic viewpoints in the Garhwal Himalaya, offers magnificent views of the surrounding peaks and ranges.
Depending on visibility, the panorama may include views towards Neelkanth, Dronagiri, Kamet, Hathi-Gauri and several other Himalayan peaks.
The journey to the pass is also extremely important for acclimatization. Reaching a higher altitude during the day and then descending back to sleep at Khullara helps prepare the body for the much higher Pangarchulla summit attempt.
Spend time at or near the pass, enjoy the views and have refreshments before beginning the descent.
Return to Khullara by afternoon.
The evening is dedicated to rest and summit preparation.
Your trek leader will conduct a detailed briefing for the following day’s summit attempt. You will check your clothing, headlamp, water bottles, snacks, gloves, sunglasses and all essential equipment.
Dinner will be served early.
Get adequate sleep because the summit attempt begins in the early hours of the morning.
- Overnight: Tents at Khullara
Day 5: Khullara to Pangarchulla Peak Summit | Return to Khullara
- Summit Day
- Pangarchulla Peak Altitude: 4,600 m / 15,100 ft
- Trek Distance: Approx. 14 km
- Accommodation: Tents at Khullara
- Meals: Early Breakfast / Packed Food / Dinner
This is the most challenging and rewarding day of the entire expedition.
Wake up in the early hours of the morning. After a light meal and final equipment check, begin the summit attempt with headlamps.
Starting early is essential because summit day involves a long climb and mountain weather can change rapidly later in the day.
The initial section takes you away from Khullara and gradually towards higher mountain terrain.
As the altitude increases, the landscape becomes increasingly rugged. The trail moves through alpine slopes and rocky sections, with snow possible depending on the season and current conditions.
The climb becomes progressively more demanding.
You gain altitude steadily and eventually reach the upper slopes of Pangarchulla.
The approach towards the summit can involve steep terrain, exposed sections and snow-covered slopes depending on the season. The final ridge is one of the most exciting parts of the trek and requires concentration, good physical endurance and careful movement.
Your trek leader will control the pace and continuously assess the group’s condition.
As you approach the summit, the Himalayan panorama opens dramatically around you.
Reaching Pangarchulla Peak at approximately 4,600 metres is the defining moment of the expedition.
From the summit, enjoy spectacular 360-degree views of the Garhwal Himalaya. On a clear day, the panorama includes views towards major peaks such as Dronagiri, Kamet, Hathi-Gauri, Chaukhamba, Kedarnath region peaks and other snow-covered Himalayan ranges.
Spend some time at the summit for photographs and to experience the moment.
However, the summit is only halfway through the day’s journey.
After the designated summit time, begin the descent towards Khullara. Descend carefully, particularly on snow or steep terrain.
Reach camp after a long and demanding day.
A hot meal and well-deserved rest await you.
Celebrate the successful completion of your Pangarchulla Peak summit attempt with the team.
- Overnight: Tents at Khullara
Day 6: Khullara to Tugasi Village | Drive to Joshimath
- Trek Distance: 7–8 km
- Trek Duration: 4–5 hours
- Drive Distance: Approx. 20 km to Joshimath
- Drive Duration: Approx. 1 hour
- Accommodation: Hotel
- Meals: Breakfast & Dinner
After several days in the high mountains and a challenging summit day, begin the descent from Khullara after breakfast.
Retrace the route towards the lower Himalayan region.
As you descend, the high-altitude terrain gradually changes. The open mountain landscapes give way to greener slopes and forest sections.
The descent offers a different perspective of the route you climbed earlier.
Continue trekking towards Tugasi Village.
Reach the roadhead and meet your vehicle.
From Tugasi, drive back to Joshimath.
After days of camping in the mountains, check into your hotel and enjoy the comfort of a proper room.
The evening is free to relax, take a hot shower and celebrate the successful completion of the trek.
Dinner with the team marks the final evening of your Pangarchulla Peak adventure.
